TAPAH: A hotel worker was fined RM15,000, in default 12 months' jail, by the magistrate's court here today for using as genuine forged documents purportedly issued by the Fire and Rescue Department.
Magistrate Mohd Harith Mohd Mazlan meted out the fine on Alliff Al-Hafiz Ahmad, 24, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
Alliff Al-Hafiz was charged with fraudulently using as genuine the forged documents, in the form of a Fire and Rescue Department's sticker and an official receipt by the department, which he knew were not genuine, that were pasted on two fire extinguishers belonging to Chai Jye Niang, 41,
The offence was committed at No 12 Jalan Besar Chenderiang here at 4 pm on Oct 16 last year.
The charge, under Section 471 of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to two years, or with fine, or both, upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Fatin Farahiyah Nadzri prosecuted, while a lawyer from the National Legal Aid Foundation Hennie Soraya Hanafi represented Alliff Al-Hafiz. — Bernama
