Lahad Datu residents raise more than RM50k for Palu victims
LAHAD DATU: An initiative by the Sabah Bugis Community Association (PKBS) in setting up the Sulawesi Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster Aid Fund was a success with RM52,687.52 collected from local residents. A leader of the association, Mohammad Yunus Abu attributed the success to the cooperation of the 50 PKBS members in Lahad Datu. "We set up this fund last Oct 5 by focusing in areas such as the pasar rakyat, Servay supermarket, Darvel Bay, villages and the mosques and surau in Lahad Datu," he said when contacted, here today. Mohammad said the donation collected had been handed over to Pertubuhan Generasi Pemikir Teras Harapan Malaysia (Teras) today to be channelled to victims in the disaster.
